What is your plan to secure NC’s 2026 & 2028 elections?

To: Gov. Stein

From: A verified voter in Wilmington, NC

January 14

Governor Stein, I’m writing as a North Carolina voter to ask a direct question that deserves a direct answer: What is your plan to secure the integrity, administration, and public trust of North Carolina’s 2026 and 2028 elections? We are no longer operating in a “normal” political environment. We are living through an authoritarian kleptocracy, where the rule of law is being bent to serve one person, and where federal enforcement is being used as political intimidation. ICE is increasingly functioning like a private police force, operating with sweeping discretion and political incentives, with the corrupt DOJ acting as cover rather than a check. Under these conditions, election security is not a partisan topic — it is a democratic survival issue. As Governor, you have a duty to proactively defend North Carolinians’ right to vote freely and safely. I am asking you to commit publicly to the following, in clear terms: 1. Protection of NC election infrastructure and administrators What specific resources, cybersecurity measures, and state-level supports are in place to protect county election offices and staff from sabotage, harassment, or coercion? 2. Chain-of-custody, audits, and transparency What election audit standards will NC require for 2026 and 2028 (risk-limiting audits, post-election audits, etc.) and how will you ensure transparency without feeding disinformation? 3. Response plan for intimidation and disruption What is the state’s plan if armed groups, organized harassment campaigns, or federal intimidation tactics target polling places, election staff, or voters? 4. Safeguards against federal interference If federal agencies attempt to interfere with NC election administration — directly or indirectly — what legal strategy and executive response will you deploy to defend state election independence and voters’ civil rights? 5. Public communication What is your plan to communicate election security steps clearly to the public — so people trust the outcome and know where to report intimidation or violations? North Carolina is a battleground state. That makes us a target. And vague reassurances are not sufficient anymore. I am requesting a written response describing your election security plan and what actions you will take in 2026 and 2028 to protect North Carolinians from intimidation, interference, corruption, and suppression.
