I am writing today as a concerned resident of Colorado to urge you all to stand firm in defense of our state's democratic values, constitutional principles, and institutional independence in the face of mounting political pressure from President Trump’s administration.
Colorado has long been a leader in upholding civil rights, environmental protections, and the integrity of our elections. As national politics grow more polarized, your commitment to these values is more important than ever. Many of us count on you to safeguard the rule of law and ensure that Colorado does not yield to any federal demands or directives that conflict with our state’s Constitution, our people’s rights, or our collective moral compass.
This is a moment that calls for courage and unity. I urge you to continue working with other state leaders, regardless of party affiliation, to preserve the autonomy of Colorado’s institutions and to keep our government transparent, accountable, and responsive to its residents—not to political expediency.
Thank you for your continued service and for standing up for the people of Colorado and the principles of democracy that guide our state.
