Stand UP for America

To: Sen. Budd, Sen. Tillis, Rep. Edwards

From: A constituent in Asheville, NC

February 10

I am writing to express my deep concern over the reckless policies and decisions coming from the Trump administration that are upending the lives of everyday Americans. From attacks on healthcare and environmental protections to the erosion of democratic norms, these actions are not only damaging but often directly harmful to the very people you were elected to serve. Instead of prioritizing the needs of hardworking Americans, Congress has too often chosen to shield Trump from accountability, enabling policies that disproportionately hurt vulnerable communities while benefiting the wealthy and well-connected. The rush to push through damaging policies—whether it’s deregulation that threatens public safety, cuts to social programs, or attacks on voting rights—must be slowed down and reconsidered. Your responsibility is to your constituents, not to a president who has repeatedly demonstrated disregard for the rule of law and the well-being of the people. I urge you to put country over party, to stand up for democracy, and to focus on legislation that genuinely improves lives—whether that means protecting access to healthcare, addressing climate change, or ensuring fair wages and workers’ rights. History will remember the choices made during this time. Will you stand with the American people, or will you continue to defend policies that harm them? I hope you choose the former. I urge you to take meaningful action to curb these reckless policies, restore accountability, and prioritize the needs of the people you serve. I look forward to your response and to seeing leadership that puts people first.
