Hello, I'm a constituent in Inglewood. I'm writing to voice my deep opposition to Donald Trump's wars of adventure and personal enrichment, and to ask you most vigorously to speak out in opposition, and to take the following steps: 1) Invoke the War Powers Resolution. Require the immediate cessation of hostilities without congressional authorization. 2) Convene oversight committees and compel testimony from the key players, regarding Venezuela, Nigeria, Iran. Explore why congressional Democrats were not briefed, but heads of oil companies were. 3) If hearings establish that the president has willfully violated the Constitution or federal law, initiate impeachment proceedings as required by your oath of office. 4) Use congressional control of the purse strings to slow down further military adventuring by this regime. I know! Democrats are the minority. We're working on it! I don't expect miracles, but I do expect every member of congress with a strong moral compass to use every procedural trick in the book to slow down this machinery of war and corruption. I've watched the republicans do this for decades, I expect my representatives to use all the tools at their disposal to help slow, and eventually quash this grab for authoritarian power. I am a frequent political donor, and all my donations are going to candidates that are running on a progressive platform, or demonstrating a shift in leadership in progressive directions. Please help me to help you give the American people leaders they can be proud of. Americans are fed up with corporatist politicians that frequently sell us out to the highest bidder, while life keeps getting harder and more uncertain. The wind is changing, and I hope you are with us! Be sand, not oil, in the machinery of fascism. Thank you for your time.
