Uphold migrant rights, halt indiscriminate deportations without due process

To: Gov. Ayotte

From: A constituent in Plymouth, NH

April 19

The fact that around 90% of the migrants deported to El Salvador lacked any serious criminal record in the U.S. is deeply disturbing. Accusing these individuals of gang ties without due process and deporting them en masse raises serious human rights issues. We should be treating migrants with dignity and affording them proper legal protections, not casting them off based on unsubstantiated allegations. The U.S. government's actions here seem to violate principles of justice and run counter to our nation's values of equality and human rights. Yet, our NH State Police, several local police departments and my Grafton County Sheriff are volunteering and gung ho to participate without any mandate (yet) to do so. It's an attempt at ethnic cleansing and so far, has shown to be also about squelching our free speech. Please, let's not participate in this farce!
