Oppose legislation discriminating against transgender employees

To: Rep. Ciscomani, Sen. Sinema, Sen. Kelly

From: A verified voter in Tucson, AZ

November 4

The "Safeguarding Honest Speech Act" (SB3318) This proposed legislation infringes on the rights and dignity of transgender and non-binary individuals by enforcing the misgendering of employees through legal means. Requiring the use of birth names and pronouns that do not match a person's gender identity is disrespectful and invalidating. It creates an unwelcoming and potentially hostile work environment. This bill promotes discrimination under the guise of "honest speech" and undermines efforts towards greater inclusion and respect for gender diversity in the workplace. I urge you to oppose this harmful legislation that targets a vulnerable minority group. Workplaces should be spaces where all employees feel safe, respected and able to bring their full authentic selves.
