Please publicly support California's actions to protect and preserve our democracy. I read that Governor Newsom along with other CA legislative leaders and advocates, "announced plans to introduce a legislative package next week for a state constitutional amendment to enable California voters the opportunity to fight back against Trump’s attempted power grab in Texas." Further details of this announcement are featured on the Governor Gavin Newsom webpage. Established Independent Redistricting Commissions are not stopping some states from preparing to join Texas in gerrymandering, and as Governor Newsom mentioned, "fight fire with fire." Many other democracy-valuing lawmakers might be preparing to replicate California's efforts in an act of solidarity. This may well be what is needed to succeed in eventually passing anti-gerrymandering legislation. Should a special election be held this November for the constituents to decide to have an 'Election Rigging Response Act' here in our state, I'm prepared to vote. Please publicly support California's actions to protect and preserve our democracy with their special election featuring the Election Rigging Response Act. Thank you.
