An Open Letter
To: Gov. Sherrill
From: A constituent in Clinton, NJ
July 6
I am extremely concerned about Josue Nicodemus Valenzuela Ulloa, a NJ man detained by ICE.
He arrived in the US in 2013 as a child, applied for asylum and obtained a work permit. He paid his taxes every year since he started working. He became a loving partner to Genesis, a US citizen, and they had two girls, ages 5 and 7.
Based on a court ruling, he has already won his case & was granted NOT to be removed.
He was detained in NJ in May 2025, and has since been transferred to Texas detention centers three times, most recently to Limestone County Detention Center, in a remote rural area, not associated with any Immigration Court.
We strongly urge Gov. Sherrill to contact Texas Governor Greg Abbot to ask for his help in advocating for this young father to be released to NJ so his US citizen partner & daughters can resume their life with him.
End this man's suffering & bring him home!
