Did you know that there is no Inspector General oversight of the Kennedy Center unless the Kennedy Center requests it? It's true. Under 20 U.S.C. § 76l(d), the Inspector General of the Smithsonian Institution is authorized to conduct audits or investigations regarding the Kennedy Center only on a reimbursable basis when explicitly requested by the Kennedy Center's Board of Trustees. Obviously a lot of things need to be fixed regarding the Kennedy Center. (Hellooooo Senator Warner! You are actually a member of the Board, remember?) For future reference, the Inspector General issue is one of the things that must not be overlooked.
