Charge ICE officers with murder

To: Sen. Kaine, Sen. Warner, Rep. Subramanyam

From: A verified voter in Sterling, VA

January 8

As your constituent, I demand federal investigations and murder charges be brought against ICE agents who have killed our citizens and legal residents. Today’s cold blooded murder of a Minnesota mother is enough. The very first death at ICE’s hands was enough, really. But the fact that there is clear evidence we’re all able to see, witnesses to corroborate, and an untrained, trigger-happy ICE agent let loose to terrorize our people still on the streets is something we cannot ignore. We cannot forget when the news cycle changes and Trump does something else unhinged. There’s another child without a mother tonight. And for what? Nobody is safer. There are not fewer drugs in our cities. The cost of housing and groceries has not improved. Even if we had seen these improvements, is the loss of human life the price we should pay for them? These monsters must be held accountable for the harm they have caused. Forget Qualified Immunity. We can see from videos that ICE agents committed murder. We can see they were not acting in self defense. None of us are safe if we allow ICE to behave this way unchecked. They’ll only be emboldened to continue shooting people in cold blood, because they know they’ll get away with it. They’ll be protected by this administration who continues to lie to the public about their activities. Hold hearings. Investigate these murderers. Charge them for their crimes. And send them to prison so the rest of us can sleep at night. Then. THEN! Make laws and systems that will prevent this kind of mayhem from happening again. This can never happen again. Do your jobs and put an end to it now.
