Mitigate DOGE threat to government financial systems immediately
To: Rep. Larson
From: A constituent in West Hartford, CT
February 7, 2025
Urgent action is needed to address the unprecedented insider threat posed by DOGE operatives having access to critical federal payment systems. As revealed in the Treasury threat analysis, DOGE staff's ability to read and modify code for systems handling trillions of dollars constitutes an unacceptable risk. Their unauthorized changes and history of locking out civil servants from other systems amplify these concerns. Despite the court order restricting general access, "read only" exemptions for certain DOGE members still enable an alarming level of insight into our financial infrastructure. This untenable situation jeopardizes the integrity of government operations and public trust. Comprehensive audits, revocation of all privileges, and stringent monitoring protocols must be swiftly implemented to neutralize this threat. The administration's refusal to provide transparency regarding DOGE's reckless actions is deeply troubling. Compliance with congressional oversight requests and a commitment to following proper legal procedures is imperative to upholding democratic values. Ignoring protocols enables continued overreach that could destabilize core functions of government. Principled leadership demands decisive action to reestablish accountability and restore order within lawful bounds.
