Get back to work!
To: Rep. McClintock
From: A constituent in El Dorado Hills, CA
November 3
GET BACK TO WORK.
The House has worked for 14 days in three months.
Most Dems are in Washington. Most GOP are not. Any yet they are receiving a salary. Hundreds of thousands of federal workers are going to work every day to uphold the laws of this country and keep Americans safe but aren’t being paid. Hundreds of thousands more aren’t allowed to go into work and are going without pay due to House GOP inaction.
Do you realize how corrupt this is? Do you see how degrading it is from an institutional point of view? The GOP House reps, who passed a bill this year putting burdensome work requirements on Medicaid recipients, have themselves worked 14 days since July 25. And yet they have better health insurance than those they are honored to serve.
Now Americans, including federal workers who haven’t been paid in over a month, are about to be hungry because Trump refuses to use available funds appropriated for SNAP and the GOP cut funding for food banks. Your collective inaction, truancy, and failure to exercise your constitutionally enshrined roles and duties, is at fault. Children will go hungry.
Meanwhile Adelita Grivalja's district has been without the representation which is their legal right for 37 days. The longest such delay ever. Mike Johnson has effectively dissolved Congress.
Mike Johnson has handed the power of the house to Trump. The president is taking notice. “I’m the speaker and the president,” Trump reportedly said to associates. Every American should be outraged by this monumental abuse and truancy. Please condemn it publicly, stay in DC, and negotiate a budget.
Please introduce a motion to vacate the speaker’s chair. No one who skips work like Mike Johnson should be drawing a salary or having health insurance at our expense. Any other federal worker who performed this poorly at work would have been fired long ago.
Stop this farce now and get back to work!
