Support Transgender Service Members: Oppose Discrimination in the Military
To: Rep. Lett, Sen. Liston, Gov. DeWine
From: A constituent in Columbus, OH
January 29, 2025
As your constituent, I urge you to support policies that allow all qualified individuals, including transgender people, to serve openly in the military. It is deeply unjust to discriminate against a vulnerable population that is willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for our nation.
Barring transgender individuals from serving does not strengthen our military—it weakens it by excluding capable, committed Americans. Research from the Department of Defense and RAND Corporation has shown that inclusive policies do not harm military readiness or cohesion. Instead, they reflect our nation’s values of fairness and equality.
As someone who believes in honoring the bravery and commitment of all who wish to serve, I ask you to reject discriminatory policies and work toward ensuring the military remains open to all qualified individuals.
