Hurricane Helene relief bill: Focus on victims, not politics
To: Sen. Mayfield
From: A constituent in Asheville, NC
November 20
The proposed Helene relief bill has been unnecessarily politicized with unrelated provisions aimed at stripping power from the incoming Democratic governor and attorney general. This blatant power grab detracts from the urgent need to provide comprehensive aid to communities devastated by the hurricane. All extraneous agendas should be set aside, and the legislature should focus solely on delivering the maximum possible relief funding and resources to Helene victims. North Carolinians affected by this disaster deserve a unified, apolitical response prioritizing their recovery and rebuilding without partisan obstruction or ulterior motives. I urge you to remove all unrelated provisions from this bill and ensure it fulfills its core purpose of supporting our fellow citizens in their time of dire need.
