The Supreme Court’s Attack on Federal Workers Must Be Stopped Immediately

To: Sen. Booker, Sen. Kim, Rep. Sherrill

From: A verified voter in Boonton, NJ

July 8

I am writing in the strongest possible terms to demand that you take immediate action to counter the Supreme Court’s reckless decision to strip federal workers of their long-established job protections. This ruling is an open invitation for any administration to conduct politically motivated purges of career civil servants, turning our government into a patronage machine instead of a professional institution. This is not some abstract legal question—it is a direct threat to the stability and impartiality of federal agencies that serve the public. It will damage our democracy, erode public trust, and destabilize countless families who rely on the promise that skilled federal service is not subject to the whims of partisanship. Make no mistake: this ruling is part of a deliberate campaign to hollow out government, intimidate public employees, and consolidate power. It cannot stand unchallenged. I urge you to immediately pursue legislative remedies to restore these protections and to speak out forcefully against this brazen power grab. Silence and delay will only embolden further attacks on the rule of law and the principle of a nonpartisan civil service. The American people deserve better than a system rigged to reward loyalty over competence. Please treat this issue with the urgency it demands. I expect your office to publicly oppose this decision and support all efforts to undo its damage.
