I am writing as a constituent to demand immediate congressional oversight of U.S. military actions abroad and strict compliance with the War Powers Resolution. Congress’s constitutional authority over war has been steadily eroded for years, and that failure now poses serious risks to democratic accountability, international stability, and human life. The Constitution is explicit: the power to authorize sustained military force belongs to Congress, not the executive acting alone. When military operations proceed without clear authorization, defined objectives, or meaningful public debate, Congress is not merely sidelined—it is failing in its most fundamental duty. Continued inaction signals that executive overreach in matters of war will be tolerated, regardless of the legal or human consequences. I urge you to act now by: - Reasserting Congress’s Article I authority over the use of force - Demanding full transparency and timely reporting under the War Powers Resolution - Opposing any expanded or prolonged military involvement absent explicit congressional authorization - Supporting immediate hearings and public debate before any escalation of U.S. military action Silence and delay are not neutral positions. They allow unconstitutional precedents to harden and place service members and civilians at unnecessary risk. Congress must do its job and act before further harm is done. I expect decisive leadership on this issue.
