An Open Letter

To: Sen. Scott, Rep. Mast, Sen. Moody

From: A constituent in Jupiter, FL

June 11

History, despite its wrenching pain, cannot be unlived, but if faced with courage, it need not be lived again. I am writing to you today not merely as a voice from your district, but as an American deeply grieved by the systematic hollowing out of our democracy. This is a republic founded precisely to escape the tyranny of monarchy and the bitter sting of discrimination. For two and a half centuries, this nation has stood as a luminous beacon of liberty to the world. Yet today, that great light is dimming and fading out as the architected erosion of our institutions takes hold. If you stand by and allow unmoored, autocratic policies to replace our democracy, you do not just break a political promise. You fracture your sacred oath to the Constitution. You fail yourself, you fail the ancestors who built this house, you fail your family, and you fail the millions of Americans who grew up believing in the enduring promise of the grand American experiment. We, the people, are watching. We see what is being done in the dark, and we demand an accounting for these profound betrayals. We see the veil over the Epstein investigation, where the public demands complete transparency instead of protected privilege and buried files. We see the exile of science and health, turning away from wisdom by dismantling environmental protections and removing the very scientists working to understand and shield us from novel diseases. It defies reason that vital ocean monitoring beacons are being stripped away, silencing the systems that track currents, storms, tsunamis, and swelling waves. Furthermore, allowing a rogue, privately funded apparatus to steal the quiet, confidential information of hundreds of millions of American citizens is a total surrender of your duty to protect the people. To top it all off, supporting the raiding of funds from Social Security, money paid into the system by honest citizens through a lifetime of labor and sweat, is a betrayal of a sacred covenant. Why do you choose to abandon the country you were chosen to defend? Shame is a heavy garment to wear into the pages of history. If you allow this bright light of liberty to go cold and dark under your watch, your legacy will be forever tied to the ruin of the republic. Look to your conscience, remember who you serve, and uphold your oath.
