An Open Letter

To: Gov. Hobbs

From: A constituent in Tucson, AZ

This bill aims to limit minors' access to potentially harmful online content by requiring age verification for certain websites. However, such measures can inadvertently restrict access to LGBTQ+ resources and communities, which play a vital role for many youth exploring their identities. Age verification requirements risk outing LGBTQ+ minors to families who may not be supportive. I urge you to carefully consider the unintended consequences of this legislation on vulnerable groups and seek alternative approaches that balance online safety with preserving access to essential support systems. Protecting minors is crucial, but it should not come at the cost of isolating LGBTQ+ youth from life-saving resources and communities.
