An Open Letter
To: Rep. McClellan
From: A constituent in Prince George, VA
November 5
I’m writing to demand Rep Ro Khanna or another motivated progressive for Speaker of the House over Rep Hakeem Jeffries. He has failed in leadership, never keeping the caucus in alignment when it mattered. There were always just enough Democrat votes to pass Republican policies. We can’t have wishy-washy leadership already pouring cold water on voters’ expectations. They are looking for justice and accountability not to “just look forward and deliver.” What does that even mean? I am tired of terrible Democratic Party leadership based on pecking order rather than merit. Rep Ro Khanna has fought the second Trump administration tirelessly. He can bridge the divide between progressives and centrists and he’s fought tirelessly to release the Epstein files. Rep Ro Khanna, Rep Summer Lee, Rep Ilhan Omar, Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rep Ayanna Pressley, or Rep Rashida Tlaib will meet this moment as consistent progressives with moral clarity where Rep Hakeem Jeffries has failed so miserably. People voted for change, and it’s time for elected Democrats to listen.
