Reject wasteful Air Force One vanity project

To: Sen. Scott, Rep. Luna, Sen. Moody

The proposal to convert a Qatari 747 jet into a new Air Force One airplane for President Trump raises serious concerns about fiscal responsibility and prioritizing national interests over personal vanity projects. According to aviation experts consulted by NBC News, this undertaking could cost over $1 billion in taxpayer funds and take years to complete, potentially extending into the next administration. The exorbitant expenditure appears unjustified, as the Air Force has already contracted with Boeing to deliver two new Air Force One planes by 2029 at a cost of $5.3 billion. Accepting the Qatari jet would not only duplicate this existing effort but could also create security vulnerabilities if the plane is not meticulously disassembled and retrofitted with top-secret communication and defense systems. Instead of indulging in an expensive and unnecessary replacement of the presidential aircraft during Trump's remaining term, we should direct our resources towards more pressing national priorities that benefit all Americans. I urge you to reject this wasteful proposal and ensure that taxpayer dollars are spent judiciously on initiatives that truly serve the public good.
