I am disturbed to learn you are planning to meet with members of WoLF, an organization which denies the existence of transgender people. I am vehemently in favor of women’s rights and empowerment, but resolute in my belief that such goals cannot be achieved without including ALL women, including transgender women—nor does denying the validity of trans men or nonbinary people progress that cause. I urge you not to discard trans people when we need you most in favor of an incomplete vision of liberation. They will tell you we are a threat to the goals of women’s empowerment and bodily autonomy, when in fact we are and always have been fighting at the forefront of those battles and are often its most passionate advocates. Please, listen to people and organizations which include trans people in their vision of gender liberation, not those who discount us out of ignorance and fear.
