I, as both your constituent and follower of Christ ask you to please enact legislation for gun safety.
It's the first day of school and I am most Americans are on edge that children are not safe. If you do nothing you are an actual accomplice.
One thing I know is we the people don't have power. If the polls show the majority of Americans want reasonable gun laws ( i.e. permits, ban on assault weapons etc). It hasn't been done so we have to submit to the will of the rich that are taking money from the NRA.
As the executive branch expressed hate for democrats maybe the lack of action on your part is a revenge of sorts.
Take it out on adults. Not children. You all subsidize what your party's leader says while he is speaking shielded by bullet proof glass.
When President Clinton banned assault weapons mass shootings went down 43%. The republican congress let it expire in 2004 and mass shootings increased 239%.
My ask is not for financial gain or even my own safety. It's for the safety of the most vulnerable.
Proverbs 31:8-9. a call to action to advocate for the vulnerable and voiceless, urging readers to "Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy
I don't hold out much hope the right thing will be done but asking is the right thing.
