An Open Letter

To: Sen. Budd, Rep. Harrigan, Sen. Tillis

From: A constituent in Denver, NC

July 10

There is a statute passed by Congress in 1948, 18 USC Sec. 592, which says that no military members or armed federal agents can be at polling places during an election. But I am still afraid that this administration will try to use the military, National Guard or Homeland Security to intimidate voters in Oct and November 2026. Make sure that DOD and DOJ know that the statute MUST be obeyed. Any violation is punishable by up to 5 years imprisonment and disqualification from holding federal office for any officer or official who is involved in bringing or keeping armed federal agents or the military to any place where an election is being conducted.
