Federal Paid Parental Leave

To: Sen. Budd, Sen. Tillis, Rep. Moore

From: A constituent in Charlotte, NC

January 7

I am urging you to support a national law instituting a minimum of 4 weeks of fully paid parental leave. If you are truly pro-life and pro-women, you would do everything within your power to ensure the health and wellbeing of new parents and their newborn babies: a large part of that is ensuring that families are able to spend time with their newborns. It is a disgrace that women who recently gave birth are forced to go back to work, or force to take a leave without pay. If you support family values, you should support paid parental leave. You claim you want more babies to be born, yet you force women to work after having them, robbing them of the opportunity to bond with their baby. You do not support women if you do not support paid parental leave. Fathers, also, should have the opportunity to bond with their baby and aid the mother, after all the father is crucial to a nuclear family, yet they must return to work while they have new infants. We are the only country without any form of federal parental leave. That is not just, that is not fair, that is a disgrace. Please, support legislation that calls for paid parental leave, our families deserve it.
