I am writing to express my deep opposition to your recent announcement supporting the establishment of Turning Point USA chapters in all Montana schools. This proposal is profoundly troubling and represents a dangerous step toward politicizing and undermining the neutrality of our public education system.
Public schools exist to provide students with a well‑rounded education rooted in facts, critical thinking, and inclusivity. Introducing an organization with overt political and religious affiliations into our classrooms risks eroding the separation of church and state, a principle that is foundational to both our Constitution and the integrity of public education. Religion and partisan ideology have no place in taxpayer‑funded schools, where students of diverse backgrounds and beliefs deserve an environment free from indoctrination.
Montana families expect schools to prepare students for the future by teaching science, mathematics, literature, history, and civic responsibility — not by advancing the agenda of outside organizations. This initiative threatens to divide communities, alienate students, and compromise the educational mission of our schools.
I urge you to reconsider this proposal and instead focus on strengthening Montana’s public education system through investments in teachers, resources, and programs that unite rather than divide. Our children deserve classrooms that foster curiosity, respect, and knowledge — not political or religious agendas.
