Re: Ashton Orr, Zaya Perysian, Sawyer Soe, Chastain Anderson, Drew Hall, Bella Boe, and Reid Solomon-Lane, on behalf of themselves and others similarly situated
To the Honorable Justices of the Supreme Court,
I am writing to express my concern regarding the issues at the core of this case and to urge the Court to uphold the rights and dignity of transgender individuals. Defining gender solely by anatomical sex at birth threatens the equality and well-being of transgender Americans.
Rigid legal recognition forces individuals to conform to definitions that disregard their lived experiences, exposing them to discrimination and barriers to essential services. The government should protect its citizens, not impose definitions that invalidate vulnerable identities.
Research shows that affirming an individual’s gender identity is vital for mental health. Policies undermining this consensus not only harm individuals but also violate the equal protection principles guaranteed by the Constitution.
I urge the Court to consider the consequences of denying transgender individuals legal recognition and equal protection. This decision will impact all marginalized communities and our nation’s commitment to equality.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I implore you to affirm the rights of all people to live authentically and free from government erasure.
Sincerely
A concerned parent,
