Federal action involving ballots and voter rolls — particularly materials long certified and repeatedly verified — must be transparent, justified under law, and subject to robust oversight to avoid perception of political weaponization of federal law enforcement. I urge you to support immediate congressional oversight of this incident. Specifically: • Will you support public hearings to examine the legal basis, scope, and safeguards around federal access to state election materials? • Will you back requests or subpoenas for all documentation related to the warrant, DOJ justifications, and chain of custody for seized ballots and records? • Will you advocate for statutory limits on federal seizure of state election records unless there is a compelling, clearly demonstrated threat to election integrity? Maintaining public confidence in elections is foundational to democracy. Congress must ensure that extraordinary federal actions are subject to transparency, accountability, and respect for the constitutional role of state election officials.
