Reinstate passenger rail funding to benefit all Ohioans

To: Gov. DeWine, Sen. Liston, Rep. Piccolantonio

From: A verified voter in Blacklick, OH

June 5

Ohio's decision to drop support for passenger rail from the budget is misguided and detrimental to the state's residents. While the enormously wealthy owner of the Browns received $600 million in public subsidies, investing in modern transportation infrastructure that benefits all Ohioans is being neglected. Passenger rail provides efficient travel options, reduces road congestion and emissions, and fosters economic growth in communities served by the rail lines. Reinstating funding for passenger rail should be a priority to meet the transportation needs of Ohioans in the 21st century and keep our state competitive. This publicly-funded amenity would serve the interests of the people far more than corporate handouts.
