Our sailors aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln have endured more than 250 days deployed, with reports of food shortages, plumbing failures, contaminated water and severe mental health strain. Some sailors reportedly attempted to jump overboard. Pete Hegseth responds by dismissing these reports. Our servicemembers deserve competent leadership, not a DUI hire who minimizes their suffering. Congress has the constitutional responsibility to provide oversight and hold executive officials accountable. Exercise it. Investigate these conditions immediately and begin impeachment proceedings against Hegseth. Our sailors put their lives in this country’s hands. Congress must not abandon them.
