I urge you to reject the nomination of Matt Gaetz for Attorney General. His lack of integrity, unethical behavior, and confrontational conduct make him unfit to lead the Department of Justice. The Attorney General must uphold the rule of law without partisan bias or personal agendas. Gaetz's track record is highly concerning. He orchestrated chaos within the House Republican caucus, demonstrating a disregard for institutional norms. More gravely, he faced credible allegations of sexual misconduct and potential sex trafficking, though no charges were ultimately brought. Even if legally exonerated, such ethical lapses disqualify him from this crucial role. The Attorney General must inspire public trust and respect constitutional principles. Gaetz's combative style and willingness to mock colleagues reflect poorly on his temperament. He has shown himself to be a divisive figure who prioritizes personal gain over democratic values. As Senators tasked with advice and consent, you have a duty to thoroughly vet nominees and uphold rigorous standards, especially for this position. Confirming Gaetz would undermine the Justice Department's integrity and independence. I implore you to put country over party allegiance and reject this enormously problematic nomination. The American people deserve an Attorney General beyond reproach.
