I am writing to urge you to apply the highest level of scrutiny to the en bloc nominations now before the Senate. These nominees are not just routine appointments—they represent a coordinated effort by this administration to weaken civil rights, environmental protections, government oversight, and U.S. credibility abroad.
Several stand out as especially troubling:
• Tristan Abbey (EIA) – already undermining independent energy data and cutting transparency.
• George Wesley Street (NCSC) and Peter Thomson (CIA IG) – nominees in charge of intelligence oversight who could politicize counterintelligence and bury abuses.
• Kimberly Guilfoyle (Ambassador to Greece), Callista Gingrich (Ambassador to Switzerland), and Christine Toretti (Ambassador to Sweden) – purely political patronage appointments to critical NATO and diplomatic posts.
• Jessica Kramer (EPA Water), Leslie Beyer (Interior), and Kyle Haustveit (DOE Fossil Energy) – nominees who will tilt policy toward polluters at the expense of public health.
• Justin Overbaugh (DoD) – with deep defense industry ties, risking procurement capture and corruption.
Taken together, these nominations reflect a dangerous pattern: data capture, deregulation, patronage, and politicization of national security.
I urge you:
1. Demand full, transparent hearings on each nominee—no rubber-stamping.
2. Vote no on those who threaten agency independence, environmental protections, civil rights, or diplomatic credibility.
3. Speak publicly about the stakes—Americans deserve to know how these positions affect our safety, health, and democracy.
This administration is stacking agencies with loyalists and industry insiders at the expense of the public interest. Please defend democratic accountability and reject any nominee who fails the test of independence, integrity, and service to all Americans.
