Choose standard time instead of daylight savings

To: Rep. Omar, Sen. Smith, Sen. Klobuchar

From: A constituent in Minneapolis, MN

July 14

dst Thank you for your continued leadership in these dark times. I’m writing today in opposition to permanent daylight savings. I would, however, support permanent standard time. Daylight savings shifts light exposure later in the day, increasing the risk of accidents and the disease burden. As your constituent and someone with a circadian rhythm disorder, permanent daylight savings would make it harder for me to manage my condition year round, while standard time would strike a balance across all circadian disorders, representing a fairer solution. “Reduced morning light exposure is directly linked to elevated rates of depression and other mood disorders, whereas increased light exposure at night is linked with difficulty falling asleep and shorter sleep duration.” https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/rested-development/202605/the-health-risks-of-permanent-daylight-saving-time Please advocate for a change to this bill toward permanent standard time. Thank you for your attention and consideration.
