Vote No on the SAVE Act

To: Sen. Kim, Sen. Booker

From: A constituent in Pine Brook, NJ

March 20

I'm asking you to vote no on the SAVE Act. This bill would make voter registration harder for millions of eligible Americans by requiring documentary proof of citizenship, a barrier that disproportionately affects low-income voters, elderly citizens, and naturalized Americans who may not have easy access to birth certificates or passports. We already have systems in place to verify citizenship when people register to vote. Adding another layer of bureaucracy solves a problem that doesn't exist while creating real obstacles for legitimate voters. States that have tried similar requirements have seen registration rates drop without uncovering meaningful fraud. Voting should be accessible to every eligible citizen. The SAVE Act moves us in the wrong direction by putting paperwork requirements ahead of participation. I'm counting on you to oppose this bill and protect voting access in our community.
