I am writing as your constituent from Vancouver, Washington. I voted for you. I believed in you. I supported you because I thought you would stand for justice and human rights. Today, I am holding you accountable for your vote on January 22, 2026 to fund the Department of Homeland Security. On January 7, Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old American citizen and mother of three, was executed by ICE agent Jonathan Ross in Minneapolis. Video evidence contradicts the federal government's claims of self-defense. You voted to fund DHS anyway. Two days after your vote—on January 24—Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old ICU nurse and U.S. citizen, was executed by ICE while trying to help a woman who had been pushed to the ground. Again, video evidence contradicts the official narrative. You were one of only seven Democrats who provided the votes necessary to pass $10 billion in funding for ICE. You did this knowing that Renee Good had already been killed. You knew ICE's tactics were "overly aggressive"—you said so yourself in your statement. Yet you chose to fund them anyway. Alex Pretti died because you gave ICE the resources to continue their violent operations. You are complicit in his death. Your justification—that ICE would continue operating in a shutdown while Coast Guard and FEMA would suffer—is a political calculation that values agencies over lives. You funded the agency that had already killed one American citizen, and your vote enabled them to kill another two days later. How do you want to be remembered? As someone who stood with the majority of Americans who oppose these brutal tactics? Or as one of seven who broke ranks and enabled this violence? I demand that you vote to completely defund ICE and refuse to vote for any DHS funding by the January 30th deadline. I will be watching your voting record carefully. As it stands now, I will work to vote you out of office. You have an opportunity to correct this moral failure. The question is whether you will take it.
