Please Support AB 1921

To: Sen. Gonzalez

From: A constituent in Long Beach, CA

June 27

In my spare time, I like to play video games. I have fond memories of popping a disk into a CD-ROM and booting up a video game. But video games don't come as disks anymore. Software is downloaded onto a computer, but the computer has to be connected to the internet in order to play. Eventually, a company may decide it's no longer profitable to support a video game, and they will shut down the servers with little to no warning. When that happens, a game can't be played anymore. It's bad enough for free games, but it's even worse for Californians who have spent their hard-earned money on this game. We buy our games, but we can't actually own them. We could own disks for offline games. The Protect Our Games Act, aka AB 1921, will let players actually own their games again. Either a company has to give players 60 days to download an offline version, or the company has to give all the players a full refund. Vote YES on AB 1921.
