SAVE Act
To: Rep. Foushee, Sen. Budd, Sen. Tillis
From: A constituent in Durham, NC
March 22
I am writing to you today as a constituent to express my position on the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act. While I understand the stated intent of this legislation, I cannot support its passage in its current form. My support is strictly contingent upon the inclusion of several critical amendments designed to protect citizen rights, ensure equitable access to identification, and address broader issues of national transparency and corporate accountability. I am requesting that you vote against the SAVE Act unless it is amended to include the following provisions: • Identity Document Accessibility: Any citizen requesting a copy of their birth certificate must be provided two free, certified copies within 14 days of the request. • Vital Records Maintenance: Marriage licenses and name change certificates must be provided (two free copies) every other year, with a 14-day delivery guarantee. • No-Cost Passports: U.S. Passports must be made free of charge to citizens and provided within 30 days of application. • Real ID Integration: The Real ID must be explicitly codified as a valid form of identification for voting, given the rigorous documentation required to obtain one. • National Transparency: The immediate and unredacted release of all files related to Jeffrey Epstein. • Media Reform: The reinstatement of the Fairness Doctrine to ensure balanced public discourse. • Anti-Monopoly Reform: No single corporate entity may control more than 25% of any U.S. market share; any entity exceeding this must be split into competing companies. • Energy Nationalization: The nationalization of the entire U.S. power grid to remove the profit motive from essential electrical utilities. Unless these stipulations are added to the SAVE Act to ensure that voters are supported rather than burdened, I urge you to oppose this bill and cease all legislative techniques that may result in voter suppression. I look forward to hearing your position on these requirements and how you intend to represent my concerns in Washington.
