Please override the governor's education funding veto

To: Rep. Galvin, Gov. Dunleavy, Sen. Gray-Jackson

From: A constituent in Anchorage, AK

April 22

Alaska's public school system is in crisis after years of stagnant state funding. Without a $1,000 per-student increase to the Base Student Allocation, hundreds of teachers face losing jobs, class sizes will continue ballooning, and vital programs will be cut. While the governor proposes a smaller $560 increase alongside other reforms, this does not go far enough to address the urgent needs facing our schools. A stronger investment in per-pupil funding is imperative to providing a quality education. I urge you to vote to override the veto and prioritize robust education funding at the $1,000 level to support students, retain teachers, and uphold academic excellence across Alaska.
