An Open Letter

To: Sen. Buck, Gov. Braun, Rep. Karickhoff

From: A constituent in Kokomo, IN

January 28

I'm writing today to express my serious concern over a number of proposed house and senate bills, and to let you know I oppose them. They are HB 1231, HB 1334, HB 1644, HB 1669, HB 1684, SB 171, SB 286, SB 441, SB 523, and HB 1136. These bills are in opposition to our deepest held American values, particularly the separation of church and state. SB 286 is simply irrational-- a person with a cold or flu-like symptoms should certainly wear a mask in public for everyone's sake, and a person with an auto-immune disease should have the right to protect themselves in this way. As for HB 1136, it violates one of our longest held values: no taxation without representation. It would take away the right of a school district to elect a school board, and yet, tax dollars would still be used to fund whatever charter schools were implemented to replace the public schools. I am absolutely opposed to that. Stand up for American values-- do not vote in favor of these bills.
