Oppose the Grand Staircase and Bears Ears Monument Reductions

To: Sen. Lee, Rep. Moore, Sen. Curtis

From: A verified voter in Logan, UT

July 20

On July 13, President Trump signed proclamations stripping over 3 million acres — more than 90% of the protected land — from Grand Staircase-Escalante and Bears Ears National Monuments. This is illegal, and you helped make it happen. Senators Lee and Curtis, Governor Cox, and Rep. Maloy championed these reductions while uranium mining and coal industry donors bankrolled the political machine that delivered them. Utah voters are watching, and this kind of corporate giveaway of sacred public land motivates people to show up at the ballot box. Support America's Red Rock Wilderness Act and publicly oppose these monument reductions. These lands belong to the public — not to extractive industry lobbyists. The Bears Ears and Grand Staircase Inter-Tribal Coalitions have fought for this land for generations, and their voices carry more weight than any campaign check. Gutting monument protections to benefit a handful of donors is exactly the kind of decision that ends political careers in a state where outdoor recreation and public lands are part of the identity. Get on the right side of this.
