Protect Indiana Ratepayers From Utility Cost-Shifting
To: Gov. Braun
From: A verified voter in Guilford, IN
January 17
Dear Governor Braun,
Indiana residents are facing rising utility bills driven in part by infrastructure expansion to support large industrial and AI data center loads. These private projects are being treated as economic development while the costs of transmission upgrades, generation expansion, and grid reinforcement are increasingly borne by households.
As Governor, your administration influences utility regulation, planning assumptions, and enforcement posture. I am asking you to ensure that ratepayers are not forced to subsidize private energy infrastructure that primarily benefits corporations and government contracts—not residents.
Indiana families should not be the backstop for speculative or opaque industrial development.
