An Open Letter

To: Sen. Romanchuk

From: A constituent in Medina, OH

November 21

I am writing to oppose the proposed changes to Ohio’s voter approved cannabis laws in bill 56. Ohioans made our decision clear, and the new restrictions being discussed do not reflect what we voted for. Limiting potency, redefining products, restricting access, and adding new public use rules all go against the intent of the law that passed. If lawmakers are so certain that these changes are what the public wants, then they should put the issue to another vote instead of rewriting the law after the people already decided. Changing the rules without voter approval weakens trust in the entire process and tells voters that our choices can be ignored. Ohioans supported a fair and consistent system for adult cannabis use. We did not support rollbacks, additional limits, or selective restrictions that treat cannabis differently than other legal substances. I am asking you to oppose any attempt to weaken, narrow, or replace what the voters approved.
