I am urging you State Representative Watford to vote “NO”on HB 640 during the Judiciary 2 committee. This bill threatens to create complicated & cumbersome requirements that will cost an extraordinary amount of funding & man-hours to implement, putting stress on already beleaguered government & county agencies. You can look at Georgia to see that monthly verifications for public assistance has shown to be expensive and & an administrative nightmare which is why they’re changing to an annual basis. HB 640 also undermines access to public assistance for our most vulnerable, many of whom are veterans, or those experiencing mental health issues. As a healthcare worker, I follow evidence based practices to provide the best care for my patients. HB 640 would be the opposite of that. It doesn’t make common sense and would lead to greater inefficiency.
