Vote No on the SAVE America Act
To: Sen. Budd, Sen. Tillis
From: A verified voter in Snow Hill, NC
March 21
Vote no on the SAVE America Act. This bill is voter suppression disguised as election security, and it would disenfranchise millions of Americans who are eligible to vote.
Requiring documentary proof of citizenship to register will block access for the 20 million Americans who lack these documents, including elderly voters who were never issued birth certificates, married women whose names don't match old records, and low-income citizens who can't afford to track down paperwork. Forcing states to hand over voter rolls to the federal government is an unprecedented federal overreach that undermines state sovereignty. There is no evidence of widespread noncitizen voting that would justify these extreme measures.
The amendments demanding restrictions on gender-affirming care have nothing to do with election integrity. Attaching unrelated culture war provisions to voting legislation proves this bill is about politics, not protecting elections. I expect you to defend every eligible citizen's right to vote and reject this attempt to make voting harder for Americans who already face barriers to the ballot box.
