Demand Action on ICE Tactics and Deportations
To: Rep. Lett, Sen. Liston
From: A constituent in Columbus, OH
April 17
I’m writing to express grave concern about ICE’s actions, including reports of agents operating masked and without identification, detaining people without proper legal process. This is not only a threat to immigrant communities, but it poses a public safety risk as impersonators are increasingly appearing.
We’ve seen deportations to inhumane conditions in places like El Salvador, where detainees are subjected to torture and overcrowding. There have already been wrongful deportations, and despite a Supreme Court ruling ordering the return of one individual, President Trump has claimed he does not have to comply with that order. This is an attack on the Constitution and rule of law.
I urge you to:
• Investigate and prevent rogue ICE operations in our state.
• Support state-level versions of the Stop Cruelty to Migrant Children Act, Access to Counsel Act, and New Way Forward Act.
• Ensure the safe return of individuals wrongfully deported under questionable circumstances.
• Treat the use of unidentified agents as a state and public safety issue.
• Advocate for accountability of companies like Palantir and other private contractors profiting from these policies.
Please act now to protect our communities from this dangerous escalation.
