It has been months since Donald Trump launched a military operation against Iran. The “deal” that was recently announced is not a permanent peace agreement. Many key details have been put off for the future, and the situation remains much worse than before military action was launched. The War Powers Act of 1973 requires congressional authorization for military conflicts. The administration’s assertion that a ceasefire full of holes resets the 60-day clock is unfounded. I am writing to urge you to demand congressional oversight of any negations with Iran, and to insist on review and approval by Congress of any agreement that is increased. Thank you for your time and attention.
