Defund ICE Now

To: Rep. Castor, Sen. Moody, Sen. Scott

From: A verified voter in Saint Petersburg, FL

January 26

I am writing as a deeply concerned constituent urging immediate action regarding the conduct of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Recent deaths connected to immigration enforcement operations have shaken communities and raised serious questions about accountability, use of force, and the agency’s role in public safety. When federal agents kill people in our neighborhoods, including U.S. citizens, it is clear that something is fundamentally broken. Continuing to fund ICE without major structural change enables further harm and erodes public trust. I urge you to support defunding ICE and redirecting those resources toward approaches that prioritize human rights, transparency, and community safety. This must include independent investigations into all use-of-force incidents and strict limits on federal immigration agents acting in domestic law enforcement roles. This is about protecting lives, upholding civil liberties, and ensuring our government reflects our values. I expect you to take a clear stand and push for decisive legislative action.
