Their modest federal funding, just $1.60 per taxpayer annually, allows universal access to trusted journalism, emergency alerts, children's shows, and more. Cutting this funding would undermine locally owned stations, especially in rural areas, and dismantle a vital public service that informs, educates, and unites Americans. Preserving funding upholds our democratic ideals and commitment to an informed citizenry. We call on legislators to protect this essential investment in civic life.
