Support U.S. Leadership in Nuclear Energy

To: Sen. Van Hollen, Rep. Raskin, Sen. Alsobrooks

From: A constituent in Gaithersburg, MD

April 27

As your constituent, I am writing to urge you to support strong U.S. leadership in global nuclear energy development, including policies like H.R. 1474, the International Nuclear Energy Financing Act of 2025. Nuclear energy is essential for providing clean, reliable power both at home and abroad. As other nations, particularly China and Russia, expand their influence in the global nuclear sector, it is critical for the United States to reinforce its role as a leader in advanced, safe nuclear technology. Supporting initiatives that promote international financing for nuclear projects is a strategic step to strengthen our economic competitiveness, national security, and environmental leadership. Advanced technologies such as molten salt reactors and thorium-fueled designs have enormous potential to deliver abundant clean energy while minimizing waste and improving safety. The United States must continue to drive innovation and set global standards for the future of energy. I respectfully urge you to support efforts that expand U.S. leadership in nuclear energy and ensure that nuclear projects remain a priority in American energy and foreign policy. Thank you for your attention to this important issue.
