Cosponsor the Block the Bombs Act H.R. 3565 and demand aid entry into Gaza now
To: Rep. Smith
From: A verified voter in Seattle, WA
July 28
As your constituent and a taxpayer, I urge you to support the Block the Bombs Act (H.R.3565) introduced by Rep. Delia Ramirez. It's urgent to stop arming the rogue Israeli state before it wipes out the Palestinian people and escalates regional war.
This critical legislation would restrict the transfer of seven specific types of weapons to Israel that have been documented in devastating attacks against Palestinian civilians, including:
- BLU-109 bunker busting bombs
- MK80 series bombs
- GBU-39 small diameter bombs
- Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) assemblies
- SPICE gliding bomb assemblies
- 120mm tank ammunition
- 155mm artillery ammunition, including white phosphorus
These U.S.-made, U.S.-funded weapons have been directly linked to massacres and war crimes, including:
- 120mm tank rounds used in the killing of 6-year-old Palestinian girl Hind Rajab and her family
- GBU-39 Boeing bombs used in the Rafah tent massacre
- JDAMs used to bomb a mosque & school in central Gaza.
Under U.S. law, military funding and weapons cannot be provided to forces that commit gross violations of human rights. My tax dollars should fund care, not killing. These funds should instead be invested in housing, healthcare, education, and climate solutions to care for our communities.
I demand that you:
- Support and cosponsor the Block the Bombs Act (H.R. 3565)
- Enforce U.S. law that prohibits military funding for human rights violations
- Push for all humanitarian aid to immediately enter Gaza unobstructed, and a permanent ceasefire now
- Work to end all U.S. complicity in Israel’s ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people
Gaza can't wait. The West Bank can't wait. And I can't look away while my government uses my tax dollars to enable these atrocities.
