An Open Letter
To: Sen. Hawley
From: A constituent in Plattsburg, MO
January 27
As you consider this funding bill in the Senate, I IMPLORE you to consider the following: NO new funds for the DHS/CBP/ICE and as part of the package for other funds, please consider making the following requirements on these agencies who are terrorizing American cities. 1. No masks, 2. Display identification, 3. No quotas of ‘persons detained’, 4. Full investigations by independent agency of ALL who have been killed by these agencies since the current administration has taken office and 5. NO ‘papers’ requirements and NO detainment of US citizens. I’m not sure of the exact procedure but I’m sure that it can happen if there is a desire. As Americans, we don’t have to “show papers.” You have made efforts to step up and provide leadership in the Republican party and now more than EVER before, we need you to make this step and lead your party in finding their morale core. I think you know the polling on this type of ‘immigration enforcement’ is horrible for anyone supporting it. Now is the time to perform strong congressional oversight. You are that Senator, middle of the country, the heartland. I strongly encourage you to take this opportunity to make a stand for your country, our country.
